She leaped into the air, her wings glowing as she swept them down, extending her arms, two curved, golden swords appearing in her hands.
Below them, everyone too close to the crater scattered into the shadows. Karine flinched at the brightness, backing up into an alley. She muttered something about arrogant seraphs

Hating himself for it, Orpheus withdrew from the scene as holy light cast itself across his body. His skin hissed in response, light cinders rising from the marks on his body. He found himself beside Karine and smiled at her sadly.
The seraph sword flared with fire and Azazell wielded it deftly in his hands, corded muscles flexing in his arms and bare chest. His eyes narrowed and black shadows began to swirl around him despite his intentions at purity. He leaned forward and with a strong swoop of his black wings he propelled himself forward, the sword singing with heat as he made ready to swing at the angel with his sword.

"I thought pride was a sin," Karine caught his gaze and shook her head.
Someone nudged his arm and the demon girl who'd been with Karine earlier handed him some kind of potion. Karine introduced her as Anibel. "That'll help, trust me." She cringed further back in the shadows. She wasn't as powerful as either of them so that light actually hurt her quite a bit.
Her own came up with a loud, musical clash, the metal almost singing as she blocked the blow, light dancing on the edges of her blades. The more shadows swirled around her, the brighter the light of her wings and eyes became.

Orpheus took the potion from Anibel with his thanks. He poured some in his hand and ran his hand along the burning marks that had been touched with the godly light. He sighed softly as the burning sensation stopped and offered the potion to Karine. "You look like you could use it too."
Azazell was impressed at Marissa for her strength at meeting his blade with like force. Many demons had fallen to his blade, fallen angels like he was forced to become. He twisted his blade to unlock them and struck again, lower this time, trying to sneak past her blades.

Marissa shoved him back and used the momentum to throw herself above him a bit, her wings flaring out. She curled her wings around her, hovering as a crackling field of energy suddenly formed around her.
Karine took the potion and paused as she took in what Marissa was doing. Her eyes went wide and she dragged Anibel and Orpheus both further back into the alley, using the wall to shield them as the archon sent a rippling blast of light in a circle around her. There were shrieks as some of the audience didn't get away in time.

Azazell righted himself in the air with a few movement in his wings, lifting his sword in preparation for retaliation. But he wasn't prepared for what was coming. As he saw the holy light charging up, he wrapped his wings around himself protectively, his body dropping into a freefall in a defensive move. The blast propelled him downward even more quickly, and again he pounded into the ground. He didn't move though his wings relaxed and unfolded. Breathing heavily, he glared up at Marissa as he tried to recover himself.

She swung around and spun her blades, diving at him, still crackling with that energy.

Azazell thrust his sword into the ground and rolled to his side, pushing himself on his feet. He withdrew the sword and flipped it so the point faced her as she dove down. If she made a second wave, he wouldn't be able to block it so well.

She didn't have a second wave in her at least not yet, but she still sent out sparks of holy energy that hurt the eyes if you looked right at them. She twisted to avoid his sword, lashing out with one of hers

He narrowed his eyes into slits, bearing his weight down and shifted to block her sword with a loud clank. The swords made sparks as they rubbed together. Using his rooted position to an advantage, he threw her off of him and propelled himself upwards with a strong surge of his wings. His sword dropped to the ground not far below, the point digging into the ground with a heavy thud. Azazell reached out with his hands to catch Marissa by the wrists, squeezing on points cruelly to get her to drop hers as well.

She snarled into his face, sending a surge of power through herself, trying to channel it into him.

Azazell didn't want to bring himself to do this, after all, he had made a boast about godly ways. He ground his teeth and summoned up his own ungodly energy. Shadows began to swirl around them, blotting out the light into a thin haze. He let her wrists go suddenly, propelling himself into a somersault over her completely and wrapping his legs around her neck, his body hanging upside down. He swept his arms out and caught up her wings, crushing them against her body painfully. Only his wings now remained aloft. He allowed the two of them to plunge down towards the earth, Marissa helpless to use her wings but he couldn't do a thing about her weapons. He wanted to stun her, at the very least.

She was momentarily stunned by his use of unholy energy like that but after a moment started to laugh in triumph. He could deny all he wanted now, but he'd just proven himself as good as a demon. She hacked at him with both her blades as they fell.

The more and more she used her blades to cut him, the harder he squeezed his knees about her neck and the harder he crushed her wings against her.

She wouldn't relent, it was apparent he was older and more experienced than she but she had sheer, righteous fanaticism on her side, she wouldn't relent until he knocked her out cold or killed her. She snarled, twisting in his grip, and managed to turn one of her swords enough she could stab it into his side.
