"Oh, heh." He laughed a little at himself. "I don't think I've wrapped my head around that one yet." Orpheus looked embarrassed.

"It's hard to wrap your head around, believe me I know." She smiled at him. The dim light of the temple wasn't shining through her anymore, and when she shifted, her feet actually made a sound against the floor.

"Oh," he looked towards the room they had left. "Why does Adrian wear a cloth around his eyes. Is he blind?" He winced a little at that small blunder of a question, but it was on his mind.

She guided him out of the temple. There was an underground garden with a large stone pool at its center and waterfalls all around. It looked like some kind of ruin, vines entwined around everything, even spreading across the floor. "He is, yes."

He squatted beside the stone pool and looked up at her. "Then how is he able to work on people? On that slab, I mean."

"Good question, I've never been able to figure it out. Maybe it does it solely by touch, that would be the most logical answer. I know for a fact he can see through my eyes when I'm out and about, that's how he knew about the angel and such. Maybe it's something like that too." She sat beside him.

"Makes sense." He nodded a little although indeed it didn't make much sense to him. He didn't want to look like some kind of idiot. "I wonder about that fallen angel, if he's really going to do what he said he was. About killing all those people."

"Oh, I think he means it. Whether he has the power to go about it is another matter but I"m willing to bet he does."

Orpheus grinned. "I'd love to see him try."

"Every dark god of the city is going to be trying to pull him into their ranks," Karine said thoughtfully

"So I heard during the battle," he smiled a little. "And Bates?"

She looked startled by the idea and shook her head. "No."
Bates' voice spoke in their heads suddenly. I have no interest in a major power grab around here. Plus he'd be more trouble than he's worth. He's a fool, I'm sure you saw that. A blind fool.
"You can try to manipulate him, that's surely what one of the Old Gods' servants will do," Karine said suddenly.
Still not worth it.

Orpheus chuckled a little. "He does have a point there."

Karine shrugged. She honestly didn't care and said so. "The higher up your position, the more you have to fight to keep it. We have a good set up here."

"Makes sense to me," he nodded. "I think to be safe I'll just tread lightly for now." He chuckled.
