Orpheus furrowed his brow as he noticed Karine looked dead on her feet. It must have been quite the talk. "What did Bates have to say to you?"
Cerberus joined Munkar at the scrying orb, curiously watching the events. He put an arm around her waist and hugged her close.
Azazell beckoned to Marissa and the circle around him drew even wider. The world seemed to hold it's breath and even the skirmishes faltered as all eyes turned towards the holy angel and her fallen enemy.
As soon as the Archon touched ground, Azazell darted in, sweeping his wings to propell him forward quickly, and made a strike for the mortal sword. Holy as it was, it was still made of Man and therefore if he could disarm her thustly, or destroy the sword, they would be on more even ground. But... that wasn't the case, was it? Azazell had a new power, and it swelled up in him at the strike, the flames burning brightly amidst the dark shadows.

"With the fighting going on, I might have to start taking on...some higher forms of fighting, to use his term." She said the words with distaste.
The succubus leaned into his hold comfortably. "I admit I didn't foresee her having a nepheilim..."
"Demon..." Marissa's voice drifted over the fallen angel as she dodged the strike, quick as a snake. There was no anger in her voice or gaze. There was sadness. And pity.

"What do you mean, higher forms of fighting?" Orpheus looked at her with some confusion.
"It's quite exciting, isn't it my love?" Cerberus grinned at her.
"That may be so," Azazell growled, "but I do not intend to walk this path forever. Only until my enemies... until YOU... are dead." He flared his wings as he came to a stop and spun around, arching his sword in a second strike from behind. Dirty play.

Karine sighed and pushed herself to her feet. "Here, I'll show you."
"Oh, indeed," she grinned back. "Without surprises, it would be terribly boring..."
"Do you really believe that, Azazell? Tell me, do you really think that's true?" She sounded honestly surprised he would delude himself that much. She dodged again, sweeping upward with a whirl of shining wings.

Orpheus followed her movements with his eyes, watching expectantly.
"And we can't have that." Cerberus chuckled. "But you, my dear, certainly keep things interesting for me." He bent forward and kissed her on the tip of her nose.
"I can do anything," He growled back fervently, and took off in pursuit. "I will do anything, to prove my worth."

Karine closed her eyes, standing in the middle of the roof. After a moment, she floated off the ground, her hair whirling around her. Light sparkled around her, wrapping around her form and when it faded, she was shrouded in strange, frightening armor he might recognize from the statues in Bates's chapel. A cape formed entirely of long blades extended from her back, flaring out like an odd tail.
She lounged in his hold, her tail twining around one of his legs lazily. "Darling, we keep things interesting for each other," she purred, smiling up at him.
"To who?" Marissa's voice remained calm and pitying.

Orpheus looked completely speechless, and quite enraptured, by the change in Karine.
"Don't you dare pity me, Archon. Don't you dare act coy with me. You KNOW the answer to that question. I've only said it a thousand times. To whom else would I try to prove myself?"

After a moment, she let it fade, settling down on the rooftop, looking even more tired. She actually stumbled a bit when her feet touched the ground.
"You think joining forces with the enemies of Heaven and assaulting His church will redeem you in the eyes of the Father?" She sounded incredulous

Orpheus stood to his feet quickly to catch her arm. "Karine, this is all taking too much out of you. You need to rest, not to fight."
"No, I do this because I want to destroy everything you love, Archon."

"Yea...maybe I should have waited to show you," she gasped, hating that her legs were trembling and she needed to lean against him just to keep herself upright.
"And thus prove you have no worth. Not to anyone that matters."

"Sit," he said quietly as he led her to a more secure position on the tower, supporting her with his arm. "You can show me more when you feel stronger." Orpheus smiled softly.
"I don't care what you say, just DIE!" The fallen angel spat at her and attacked her from every angle he had position of, trying to break her blade, or wound her.

"I hate taking that form, I wish he'd never forced it on me." She spat it, sitting down with a murmur of thanks.
"You poor fool." She really did pity him. Her blades whirled and clashed with him. Younger than he she might be, but she was an Archon of New Babylon, trained to battle the darkest and most chaotic of beings

"You see it as a bad thing?" Orpheus tilted his head a little. "That form?"
Azazell broke off at last, his chest and brow glistening with sweat. "Damn you. DAMN YOU!" He seemed to hesitate, looking as if he might retreat. He was visibly tired from battle, and even the fire and shadow had faded some from fatigue. If she would strike him down, she should strike now at his hesitation.

"What's good about it? It's meant to inspire fear and worship by cloaking me and turning me into something I'm not." She sighed and leaned her forehead against her hand. "Although maybe that IS a good thing," she said with bitter humor.
The Archon had been dodging and conserving her strength for that very reason. As he hesitated, she darted in, ramming both blades at him

"I suppose it would depend on the situation," he nodded a little to himself.
The surprise froze on Azazell's face as her blades pierced his chest, and dug deep into him by her velocity. His hand went slack as his sword fell from his hands, the shadows still rising from it even as it plunged down, striking the earth and sticking into it, so that the hilt wobbled slightly as it came to rest. His eyes rolled down for a moment before sucking in air for the pain. "You didn't... you can't beat me!" His dumfoundess thickened as dark blood rolled down her holy blades and hissed in response.
