Unhurried, he took a detour through the garden, drawing Rhyann to sit beside the fountain. Early leaves of autumn trickled down from the trees, making a light and colorful blanket among the old stones. Tal chuckled when a leaf landed atop Rhyann's head, drawing it out of her hair and letting it drop to the ground.

Talrenius nodded a little, looking into the fountain. The water trembled in the breeze, touched by falling leaves. It was entirely possible that Tir Alainn's situation had not been unique. "For the world's sake, I dearly hope not."

"Padrick was talking about how two creatures that were supposed daughters of the dread elders had been defeated somewhere else in the world, that's what got me thinking about it," she said quietly.

"I... just hope these attacks do not become a recurring theme around the world. An armageddon between the elder gods, so to speak." Tal looked rather worried.

He bent forward and kissed her gently. "One day at a time..." He shook his head and sighed.

She kissed him back and closed her eyes, leaning her forehead against his. "See, this is what Sareth didn't understand. Our ancestors didn't have to deal with this...didn't have to deal with things like this."

He linked her fingers within his and let out a soft sigh. "Sareth was wrong in so many ways. Our People must strive to move forward with time. So many have lost touch with that."

"Moving forward means taking a look at the world around us and the world here. It means we'd have to admit we're not as superior as we think we are..." She shook her head ruefully
