Celeste sat quietly on a bench in Quarantine, not moving even hours later. She was dressed in a simple jumpsuit, like a prisoner. Her face was calm and solemn. They'd pumped her full of some kind of anti-infection meds and probably a tranq too. Neither had any effect but one or both dulled the pain a bit, which was fine. She'd made a half hearted attempt to tell them she wasn't infectious but she doubted they'd listen to her. It also technically wasn't true. Oh, no one on this ship could get what she had by contact. Every person on this ship had the potential to become one of those plant creatures but only if she chose to work at it, and she didn't. She doubted that the idea she wasn't infectious unless she chose to be was anymore of a comfort to them, though.

Aya had asked after Celeste but wasn't told where she was nor what had happened in the hallway. That concerned her because she felt the need to look after her in Liam's absence because she had been so important to him. She also considered Celeste as more than just a colleage, she thought of her as a friend, especially since they had been through so much together. She was relieved that so far she wasn't under suspicion. That may change however when they find the Godspeed’s flight recorder. Why hadn’t she thought of it sooner? She could have tampered with it to erase any evidence of her involvement with the crash. It was too late now… Aya wandered into the observation deck and took a seat in a chair near the window, looking out into space. She must be on the far side of the ship because she could see no sign of Zephyrus. With a jolt of alarm she realized that the Inverness may no longer be in the vicinity of an orbit with Zephyrus, dangerous as it was. She also wondered about Liam, if he was still alive and if so where he was hiding out. She did hope for some semblance of a rescue effort. If not, she dared to hope that she could land down there somehow if just to find Liam.

Scott returned to his office after a time and reported his findings to his superior on the situation. They had no decision yet on what they should do, but they did have some interesting information. EDC contacted Colonial Administration and told them that the Godspeed had been an accident, that the AI had gone rogue and launched the ship ahead of schedule before they could get verification. It was a decent story, seeing as how AI usage was still looked on questionably by EarthGov, but Scott didn't buy it, it was a very likely story if they had been out here to reap an unsurveyed world under the radar. He figured he should check back on Celeste, the doctors informed him that readings showed an unidentified plant life-form within her, something that has never been seen before. He found his way back to the observation room, finding her as still as ever. "How're we doing, doctor?" His voice game over the speaker in her room.

Information about Celeste she really would have rather had no one know had filtered to anyone working with her as well: she was Commander Hayward's daughter. There was mild pressure to make sure the reputation of such a famous and loyal commander to EarthGov wasn't impugned. It was easy to read between the lines of that: no one cared what they did to her as long as the connection to the Commander was never mentioned. Celeste was sitting quietly, her long black hair shielding her face from view, tracing her fingertips quietly over the patterns of vines beneath her skin. There were more of them now, branching out in several directions, curling up over her elbows and toward her upper arms. She glanced up at the sound of his voice, her eyes glowing green for a moment before it faded. She raised a single eyebrow at what she considered an idiotic question, silently inviting him to take a look around and see exactly how the hell she was doing.

"Well you failed to mention this little number during our talk. Care to explain to me what you've got going on there?"

"No."

He leaned back, folding his arms again with a smirk, "Are you always this bitter or did you just wake up on the wrong side of the greenhouse?"

"Mr. Blackwood," her voice was cold and patient. "I really wish you would drop the pretense that you actually care anything about me. Or Aya. Or Liam. Or anyone on the Godspeed. You're here to do whatever EarthGov tells you to do and it isn't in EarthGov's interests to care about any of us. That will, in fact, make it harder for you to do what needs to be done. They're going to study me, possibly kill me, and most certainly experiment on me. They will do this no matter if I cooperate or not. I see no reason to make it easier, either on doing your job or salving your conscience or anyone else's here."

"Belligerence for belligerence's sake then, I see. We're only here to find the truth doctor, if you just let us find out on our own anything could happen. If you simply come clean with me though, perhaps I can work something out for you, you know who I work for."

Her thoughts made her restless. She clenched her hands into fists and stood up from her seat. If Mr. Blackwood wouldn’t help her then perhaps she could appeal to the captain. After consulting the ship directory she made her way to the bridge. Aya hesitated for a moment, she would likely be intruding, perhaps even be unwelcome. But she had to talk to the captain, there was just no other way.

She met his gaze through the window. "Can you guarantee someone will go down to the planet to look for Liam and the others on the Godspeed?"

Aya entered the bridge and looked around at the crew. She drifted to the closest officer close to the doorway and asked if she may have a word with the captain. The officer frowned in disapproval but at the adamant desperation on Aya’s face he sighed and walked deeper into the bridge to the captain’s chair. The captain and bridge officer had a short conversation, and more than one head swiveled in her direction.

He paused, thinking for a moment, "I can't guarantee it, it all depends on what you tell me and if it's worth anything. You could always try your charms on the captain as well, he'd be the one to authorize a large-scale search. But.." He continued, "If what you carry or what is down there is valuable to EarthGov, I can help you."

She laughed out loud. "I can only imagine the ways EarthGov would find a plant that can control a life form valuable."

When the captain turned to face her, it was possible Aya might recognize him. At the time of the Saturn Rebellions, he'd been Lieutenant Hayward, and his actions on behalf of EarthGov had gotten him promoted to EarthGov's most loyal and famous defenders.
The Commander motioned her forward with an almost casual authority that leaned more toward arrogance. He was a big man, very distinguished looking, wearing his uniform impeccably. Eyes the color of gold coins studied her as she approached, revealing nothing but mild appraisal.
